Used Alfa Romeo Engines for Sale - Used OEM Engines
September 24, 2026 • Used OEM Engines

Alfa Romeo sells in small numbers in the United States. So when a Giulia or Stelvio needs an engine, dealer prices are high and salvage supply is thin.
We source low-mileage factory Alfa Romeo engines, match them to your VIN, test them before shipping, and cover every long block with a 12-month warranty and free nationwide delivery.
Why Buy a Used Alfa Romeo Engine?
A used OEM engine is the same unit your car was built with, pulled from a donor vehicle. It bolts to your mounts, works with your wiring and computer, and costs far less than a new engine from a dealer.
Rebuilt and aftermarket alternatives are scarce for Alfa Romeo anyway, which makes a tested factory engine the practical choice for most owners.
Which Alfa Romeo Engine Fits My Car?
Three engine families cover nearly every Alfa Romeo on American roads.
|
Model |

2.0L turbocharged inline-four |
GME T4 |
280 hp |
|
Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio |
2.9L twin-turbo V6 |

around 505 hp |
|
4C Coupe and Spider (2015–2020) |

1750 TBi |
237 hp |
The 2.0L belongs to the Stellantis Global Medium Engine family, so it shares its basic architecture with other group products. The tuning and several parts are Alfa's own.
The 2.9L V6 is different. Alfa developed it under Gianluca Pivetti, an engineer it recruited from Ferrari in 2013. It uses materials and geometries close to Ferrari's F154 V8, but it is a new engine rather than a cut-down Ferrari unit, whatever you read on forums. It's built at Termoli in Italy.
The 4C's 1750 TBi is all aluminum and was designed for a car weighing under 2,500 pounds. You won't find it in anything else.
Are Used Alfa Romeo Engines Hard to Find?
Yes, and it helps to know why.
About 39,800 examples of the 2.9L V6 were built worldwide between 2015 and 2024, across the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the GTA and GTAm, and the 33 Stradale. Spread that across every market and subtract the cars still running, and the pool of donor engines in North America is small.
The 4C is rarer still. Production ran from 2013 to 2020, and owners tend to keep those cars rather than scrap them.
This is why we work from a supplier network instead of one yard, and why calling with your VIN beats waiting for a listing to appear.
What's Included With a Used Alfa Romeo Engine?
You receive a long block: the engine block, cylinder head and internal components.
Your alternator, air conditioning compressor, turbocharger accessories and wiring harness move across from your old engine, so keep them.
Each engine is compression and oil-pressure tested and checked for internal wear before it ships. You get the test results and pre-shipping photos.
How to Order the Right Engine
Alfa changed details mid-cycle more often than higher-volume brands, so the year and model alone aren't enough. Have this ready:
- Your VIN. The 17-character number sits at the base of the windshield or in the driver's door jamb.
- Your drivetrain. Giulia came rear-wheel drive or with Q4 all-wheel drive. Stelvio is Q4 in the US. Accessories and mounting can differ.
- Your trim. A Quadrifoglio needs the 2.9L V6. A base or Ti car takes the 2.0L. They don't interchange.
- Why the old engine failed, if you know.
That last point matters. A turbocharged, direct-injected engine that overheated or ran low on oil often damaged the turbocharger too. Fitting a good engine behind a failed turbo or a blocked oil line puts the new unit at risk.
Alfa Romeo Engine Installation Tips
Share these with your mechanic before the swap:
- Replace gaskets, seals, the water pump and timing components while access is easy.
- Flush the cooling system so debris from the old engine stays out.
- Prime the oil system and fit new turbo oil feed and return lines. Blocked lines starve a turbocharger.
- Use the oil grade Alfa specifies for your engine, not a generic substitute.
- Expect the shop to need a scan tool that handles Alfa-specific routines afterward.
Professional installation is strongly recommended, and our warranty assumes it.
Warranty and Shipping on Alfa Romeo Engines
Every long block carries a 12-month warranty covering internal mechanical failure under normal use, with extended coverage available on many years and models. It doesn't cover labor, accessories that didn't come with the engine, or damage from improper installation.
Shipping is free to the lower 48 states. Most engines leave within 3 to 4 business days of order confirmation and arrive within 5 to 7, by freight on a pallet, with tracking sent by email and text. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are your Alfa Romeo engines genuine OEM?
Yes. They're factory-built units removed from donor vehicles, not rebuilt aftermarket assemblies or imported copies.
Nothing is listed for my car. Can you still help?
Yes. Alfa inventory moves quickly and much of it never reaches the website. Contact us with your VIN and we'll search our network.
Can I put a Quadrifoglio engine in a standard Giulia?
That's an engine swap, not a replacement. It brings mounting, cooling, electronics and emissions work well beyond a like-for-like job. We supply matching replacements.
